ISCAR is expanding the PICCO line of inserts for boring, profiling and threading applications with additional features and sizes:
1. PICCO 050 is a new family of inserts with a ground chipformer for profiling and turning, specially designed for materials that have a tendency to produce chunks of uncontrolled chips that entangle around the insert and the workpiece.
This problem exists when machining many popular materials such as austenitic stainless steel AISI 316 or alloy steel such as AISI 4340. In many cases the machine has to be stopped in order to clear the chips and as a result, productivity is significantly decreased. The new inserts enable short controlled chips, thus facilitating continuous non-stop machining. The chipformer reduces the cutting force, resulting in lower plastic deformation on the cutting edge and thus tool life is extended. They are available for a minimum bore diameter of 4.0 mm.
2. PICCO 050 inserts with a CBN tipped cutting edge for profiling and turning of hardened steel, enable machining at much higher cutting speeds, and provide longer tool life when compared with standard carbide PICCO inserts. They are available with 4.0-7.0 mm shanks for minimum bore diameter of 4.0 mm.
3. PICCO threading inserts with full profile geometries for standard and fine ISO threads are available with shanks of 4.0-7.0 mm for a minimum bore diameter of 4.0 mm.
4. PICCO inserts with 5.0 mm shank size for internal 45 and 60° chamfers on 1 mm minimum bore sizes.
5. The new PICCO 047… inserts have a 47° back edge angle that enables profiling contours that previously could not be machined by the 20° back edge inserts.
